Group personal accident insurance policy covers a group of persons. Any person irrespective of sex, occupation and profession in the age group of 15 to 65 years will be covered.

The intention of group personal accident insurance is to pay compensation for death or disablement resulting from accidental bodily injury. It compensate the insured if sustain any bodily injury resulting solely and directly accident caused by external violent and visible means such as death, permanent disablement etc.

Scope of cover

• Death:If a person dies due to an accident the risk is covered under the personal accident policy. His legal heirs are entitled to get the sum insured.
• Disability:it can be permanent total disability, permanent partial disability  temporary total disability:
• Permanent total disability:it is a disablement with permanent and irrecoverable nature and is absolutely total and the insured is unable to engage in the productive employment.  Under this disability the compensation is equal to the sum insured.
• Permanent partial disability: this disability is not total but partial. The compensation will be based on percentage of disability which is defined in the policy.
• Temporary total disablement: this disablement looks total but for stays only for temporary period. The temporary may be days, weeks, months or even years. The payment is on weekly basis.

Exclusions

Some of the basic exclusions are loss:

1. arise from intentional self-injury, suicide or attempted suicide;
2. arise whilst under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drug;
3. resulting directly or indirectly from child birth or pregnancy:
